ALBUQUERQUE , NEW MEXICO (AP) -- Detectives spent two months investigating before smashing a heroin selling operation in Albuquerque. The Albuquerque Journal reports detectives served search warrants Tuesday at six locations and arrested six men and a woman. They seized heroin, methamphetamine, $21,000 in cash and numerous weapons including an assault rifle.
A spokesman for the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit says six of those taken into custody are illegal immigrants.
Police described the drug selling operations as an "intricate network" of stash houses working on the south side of Albuquerque.
Authorities say it's unclear whether the organization has ties to a larger foreign drug operation.
