CANYON, TX -- A bit of a role reversal today in the Canyon Independent School District. That's as students became educators.

Administrators are asking the students to educate them on the technology issues they feel will be necessary for future classmates.

Imagine being a student and asked for your expertise in the world of technology from the same people who've been a part of your education for years.

That's exactly what 13 students got to do Wednesday morning. They divided up the technology into four categories:devices, online learning, digital content and broadband technology...and added in their two "gigs" worth.

"We ask kids what they need and...and they have a computer in their pocket already," CISD Director of Information Technology, Debbie Boyer said. "They're used to instant information and instant accessibility and so we're looking at what that might look like for us and we're trying to give the kids the best."

While educators are making plans to stay ahead of technology so students won't fall behind, it's the students, like Raini Whitacre, a senior from Randall High, who says they're happy to be part of their fellow calssmates' futures.

"Cause that's how our generation grew up, and that's helps us... and it'll give them the help we need from different sources. I think teachers will still have a huge impact on it, but I think the way our world is going, technology's going to be a huge part."

The students then ended the day creating presentation videos that combined all their thoughts and hopes for future technology within the district.
