The fire burned about 500 acres, Danny Richardson, Hutchinson County Emergency Management Coordinator, told Pronews 7.
The U.S. Fire Service helped local fire departments extinguish the blaze. It started just west of Antelope Creek around 2 Thursday afternoon. As for the reason, Richards explained it was started by a man who was grinding metal. They are investigating whether charges will be filed or not.
Pronews 7 has confirmed a large grassfire is burning east of Sanford just off Hwy. 1319.
Fritch Police tell us the fire is burning rough country side and school buses in the area were rerouted in the area.
Three airplanes, one helicopter, 50 fire trucks and 10 bull dozers are working the blaze.
Officials say the wind is the big problem and the fire appears to be moving along the Canadian River bottoms.
Two residences were evacuated but emergency responders have managed to save all structures.
