It's official.

Friday was the last day of school... and the City of Amarillo wants to remind you and your kids that the Summer Lunch Program is starting up again.

From June 3 through August 2, the program will be serving nutritious meals at various locations and parks including Memorial Park and San Jacinto Park. Any child age five to 18 is welcome to come enjoy a free meal between noon and one every day this summer.

"I'd really like to encourage people that when their kids are through with summer academy and they've been enjoying summer lunch and summer snack that they continue to get fed throughout the summer by participating in the parks program because those will be running past when schools are over", said the program coodinator for Community Development, Susan Barros.

To have you child participate in the summer lunch program, register them at a meal site the day before they plan to eat. For a complete list of those sites, check out www.amarilloparks.org.
