The Coors Ranch Rodeo is officially underway. It has great barbecue, shopping, live music, and of course rodeo action for a great mixture of fun.

This is the 24th year for the famous Coors Ranch Rodeo at the Tri-State Fairgrounds, which brings in 13 local and Panhandle ranches who compete for more than $13,000 in cash and prizes.

"I think its kind of the heritage of Amarillo. All the ranching communities that we have I think its an outstanding opportunity to show what a real cowboy actually does," Chris Reed, Executive Director of Coors Cowboy Club.

You can bet there's something for everyone to do, from young and old. Shopping, music, the rodeo, even a chance for kids to work with a real cowboy.

"We've got saddle bronco riding, which is always a great event to watch. Straight gathering, the trailer loading, and wild cow milking they're all just fast pace, great events that these cowboys are going to do," said Reed.

The two day rodeo kicked off Friday at 5:30 p.m. with the "Chambers After Hours" party. The rodeo started at 7:00 p.m. and then the "tommy Gallagher Band" started to play at 10:00 p.m.

Day two starts at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, with the kid's rodeo registration for "Practice with the Pros". At 9:00 a.m. come and participate in the World Championship Washing Pitching contest. The rodeo, starts back up at 7:00 p.m., then the "The Bluster Bledsoe Band" plays at 10:00 p.m.

"This is probably one of my favorites. I've been to some bigger ones and they just didn't hold up. This is at home, just so much going on here and there's a lot of locals and I know a lot of people competing," said Talia Carter, Exhibitor.
