Local emergency officials joined forces Tuesday to announce an amnesty program for anyone wanting to voluntarily turn over their fireworks.

Amarillo, along with both Potter and Randall County officials, endorsed the amnesty program where anyone can call a phone number and have their fireworks picked up. Bans continue to be put in place in a number of Texas counties last week and it's been illegal to possess fireworks in the city for more than 2 decades.

All you have to do is call 378-9092 and law enforcement from the respective agencies will come by and pick up your fireworks along with small arms ammo or black powder you might have as well.

They stress not to drop them off yourself of you will face additional fines, which coould go as high as $2,000.
