Three killed in Deaf Smith County crash

HEREFORD, TEXAS -- Three people lost their lives early Sunday morning in a crash one mile north of Hereford.

Texas Department of Public Safety says the incident happened at about 1:20 Sunday morning. Officials say Katherine Garcia, 19 of Hereford, was approaching US 385 on County Road 8 when she failed to stop at a stop sign. The car, a 1998 Lincoln Towncar then pulled in front of a truck tractor semi-trailer traveling north on US 385.

Garcia, along with two passengers, 25-year-old Danielle Duran and 25-year-old Santos Garza, all of Hereford were pronounced dead at the scene.

All three were not wearing their seatbelts.

A fourth passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt.
