AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Have the trees in your yard turned yellow, wilted or even died?

Trees all over the Texas Panhandle have suffered from the current drought. And believe it or not, the great amount of last year's rain has also added to the problem. Tree roots expand during moist times and contract when it's dry, so the changing climate has put tension on the trees and has made it more difficult for them to stay healthy.

Amarillo Arborlogical Owner Kelley Sims said one way to protect your trees is to soak them instead of just watering them. Doing this will allow the root system to absorb the water instead of the water simply running off to the side of the tree.

Sims' company offers other services ensuring the survival of your trees, including irrigation and natural compounds.

*INTERESTING FACT*:
The trees destroyed by fires in the past weeks could be saved if the Panhandle gets some rain.
