AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - With the Texas House already struggling to make quorum, the leader of the Republican Caucus is away from the capital - and his staff won't say exactly where.
Rep. Larry Taylor, R-Friendswood, was traveling with his family, chief of staff Cari Christman said Wednesday. The Legislature is in special session through June 29.
Christman said Taylor's office was working on a statement with more details. But it hadn't been released by the afternoon.
Taylor missed a Republican Caucus meeting Tuesday where party lawmakers argued among themselves over abortion language in a key health care bill. That fight has kept the measure from a full House vote.
On Monday, the House adjourned after less than two hours, when a record vote showed just 99 of its 150 members were present.
