CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 27th Special Operations Wing Change of Command Ceremony welcomed Colonel Albert "Buck" Elton II as its new Base Commander Friday morning.
Base Commander Colonel Stephen Clark passed leadership on to Elton after being promoted to Brigadier General.
Senior Airman Ashely Pfleger says Clark's command brought a lot of progress.
"He did a great job as commander," she said. "I believe that he really helped this base grow a lot more considering the change that happened a few years back."
Both Clark and Elton had family and friends present, and airmen from all over the base attended to see the traditional passing of the flag.
Change of Command is a tradition dating all the way back to 1863, and occurs every few years as officers are promoted and move elsewhere.
