AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo Bulls are looking for one great intern and to find the best, they're going through seven of them first.
Much like the popular TV show, The Apprentice, these local interns are competing on teams and individually to avoid getting cut.
"We're on two different teams and as the season starts someone is going to get eliminated each month and it's going to go like that until there's two left and then the fans are going to pick who they want to win ultimately", said one of the interns, Michael Harre.
"We're going to base it on their commitment, their passion for it and their productivity", said Amarillo Bulls General Manager, Chris Laurie.
Eliminations start after the Bulls opening game, October 2 and with the workload piling up, so is the competition.
"We have certain things that we are working towards right now as far as our teams go , but you have to put forth an individual effort as well and so side things to kind of get your name known in the office so it's definitely competitive", adds another intern, Corey Nathan.
But officials with the Bulls and the interns agree, the internship isn't just about the competition.
"It's not about winning and losing, it's about learning and contributing and hopefully they'll grow to admire the sports industry and respect it and have a successful career maybe for it", adds Laurie.
"Even if I don't end up winning, having this experience is ultimately the best thing for me" continues Harre.
With so much talent on their hands, the final elimination is something even the General Manager dreads.
"I'm hoping to have the fans vote on it for that one because at that point, the last two, I mean they're great right now and it's going to be hard to eliminate any of them so at that point I don't want to be the one doing it", said Laurie.
What makes the competition even a little more interesting, when the winner is chosen next March, they'll win $5,000! But don't worry, the runner up won't walk away empty handed either. They'll receive a cash prize of $2,000.
