AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Have a warrant? Well you might come home to a big red notice on your door.
That's because Amarillo Police have now started to leave notices on the doors of people with warrants when they aren't home. The notices are three inches by eight inches and hang on the door knobs.
Police officials say it will be left at homes after officers are unsuccessful in contacting a person with an outstanding warrant. Just because a notice is left on a door does not necessarily mean a person with an active warrant lives there, police stress. The person with the warrant may have moved or provided an incorrect address.
If you have any questions on warrants, you can call the Municipal Court at 378-6280 or go to amarillo.gov. To check the warrant list, click here.
Currently, there are more than 37,000 active warrants on file with the Amarillo Municipal Court.
