AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The wind and solar research that's been a mainstay at the USDA center in Bushland since 1976 is being phased out.

The USDA says it's going to shift its focus on bio-fuels and the future research for wind and solar is going to the Department of Energy.

The work done out there has been recognized world wide, published in almost 200 scientific journals, but the former director, Nolan Clark, says it's time to move on.

"Anytime you've been a part of anything and you see it grow and develop and actually accomplish many things you're sad to see that go but, it's time to move on and something different and that's what's happening with this program."

Some wind technology will continue at Texas Tech in conjunction with the Sandia national lab under the Departemnt of Energy...and the D-O-E is also funding research at the Alternative Energy Institute at WTAMU.
