Afternoon power outages darken Amarillo

cel Energy says it located a downed wire in a vacant field west of Downtown that was causing the problems.

Around 1,500 customers are without power around Amarillo Boulevard and West Hills.

Crews are currently working on the problem and estimate power will be restored within 90 minutes.


Previously
Several areas in Amarillo are experiencing power outages, Xcel Energy says.

Wes Reeves, spokesman for Xcel Energy reported numerous pocket outages throughout the city, including the areas of Interstate 40 and Grand, west of downtown and also in the San Jacinto area.

Pronews 7 has received other outage reports throughout the city.
