A man was killed during a high-speed chase near Borger Friday night.
Texas Department of Public Safety says a verbal altercation ensued between two men and transferred into an Allsup's parking lot. That's when William Roland Mayberry, 54, of Lewisville, Texas, allegedly struck the other man's vehicle during the altercation.
Borger Police attempted to stop Mayberry but he began to lead them on a pursuit down FM 1551. It continued on State Highway 152 where a Texas Highway Patrol unit conducting a traffic stop clocked Mayberry's vehicle going 99 mph.
The chase continued into Gray County where Mayberry reached speeds of 109 mph, DPS said. The pursuit ended on County Road 3 southbound where Mayberry lost control of his vehicle. According to officials, he veered into the east bar ditch and overturned approximately three times.
