OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Stronger-than-expected collections to Oklahoma's general revenue fund have resulted in a deposit to the state's Rainy Day Fund of $30 million more than originally anticipated.
Office of State Finance Director Preston Doerflinger said Monday a deposit of $249 million was put into the state's savings account, compared to last month's estimate of $219 million.
Money is placed into the state's Rainy Day Fund at the end of the fiscal year when collections to the state's general fund exceed the official estimate. The fiscal year ended on June 30.
Meanwhile, total collections to the state's general revenue fund were $385 million during the first month of the new fiscal year, which was 4 percent more than the same month last year and nearly 5 percent more than the official estimate.
