AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Not long ago, to balance the state budget, lawmakers did a little dipping into the Rainy Day Fund, and that may also be the case here.

Potter County Commissioners met Monday to discuss different ways they might balance their budget while facing a $2.1 million deficit.

Two possible ways they might do that is by raising taxes or dipping into what they call the fund balance.

"You know you really don't want to hit that fund, we've got lots of issues in the future down the road that we may need that fund for but right now we can dip into it a little bit," said H.R. Kelly, a Potter County Commissioner.

Kelly says there's $20 million in that fund, and they could look at possibly taking as much as $1 million out of it.
