CANYON, TEXAS -- Monday, Potter County discussed its budget issues, and today it was Randall County's turn to talk about balancing a budget.
After meeting for what Judge Ernie Houdashell says was just 21 minutes, County Commissioners settled on a budget they said they would file with the County Clerk's Office Tuesday.
Just as Potter County plans, they will dip into their reserve and raise taxes.
"We're looking at a tax increase of about .87 cents of a penny which is about 8.66 cents per $100,000, which is what it amounts to."
Houdashell says among their main goals is rebuilding their fire department and buying new equipment, but fixing roads and paying law enforcement personnel are also important items the new budget will cover.
