Annual rankings are in for the Kids Count of child well-being and Texas ranks as number 35.
Oklahoma came in at 43 and New Mexico was at number 46.
The report is released annually by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and ranks states on the basis of ten indicators. Those indicators measure child welfare, child poverty rates, infant mortality and teen births.
According to the Associated Press, the report also included data that shows the effects of the recession on children for the first time this year.
The Lonestar state ranked 29th for high school graduation rates. Texas is also exceptionally high when it comes to the teen birth rate. It ranks 48th in the nation.
