As school starts, several parts of Amarillo are experiencing lane closures.
Here's a few that you may want to avoid this work week, according to Texas Department of Transportation:
-Motorists can still expect periodic and sporadic lane closures along the interstates and major arterial roadway to repair heat-related damage to the pavement
-On Amarillo Boulevard, expect continued lane closures in both directions from Hughes Street to Grand Street for patching.
-On the Interstate 40 frontage roads at Arnot Road, expect lane closures in both directions for patching.
-On Grand Street, the northbound lanes on the east-side of the roadway are closed for construction of the new overpass. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction on the two west-side lanes from about half a mile south of Third Street to about half a mile north of Third Street. This lane closure will be in effect until the project ends by March 2012.
-At the Grand Street Overpass project, Southeast Third Street is closed from Grand Avenue to Eastern Street, as are Neuches and Industrial Streets, for the remainder of the month for reconstruction.
