AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The water restrictions caused by a major water main break on Sunday have been lifted.

According to Amarillo City Officials, residents were able to reduce their water use which positively impacted the recovery of its water storage capacity.

Residents can now resume off-even watering schedules for outdoor watering between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The new plan is part of the Drought Contingency Plan, effective September 9, 2011 and includes the following parts:
Addresses ending in an ODD number water only on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Addresses ending in an EVEN number water only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
NO watering on Saturday.

Beginning in September, the city is hoping to use only 69 million gallons a day, compared to the current goal of 74 million gallons per day.

"The continued cooperation from our community is appreciated and together we can achieve this goal," said Mayor Paul Harpole.
