Fire destroys apartments in Canyon

CANYON, TEXAS -- An overnight inferno claimed four Canyon apartments causing more than half a million dollars in damage.

According to the Canyon Fire Department, the fire happened at 25 South Ridge Drive shortly before 2 a.m. Monday. The apartment complex had one building destroyed which included four living spaces.

Canyon Fire Department, Randall County Fire Department, Amarillo Fire Department and Happy Fire Department all responded to the fire. It was reportedly under control at 3:48 a.m.

It is estimated that losses to the building totaled at $240,000 and contents of the building totaled $200,000. Vehicle losses were estimated at $80,000 or more.

No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office.
