Grassfire burns in Briscoe County

Texas Forest Service tells Pronews 7 the fire is now almost fully contained. It is officially 90 percent contained and officials say they are just wrapping things up.

In total, 5,500 acres has burned.


A grassfire has caused more than 3,500 acres of land to burn in Briscoe County.

Texas Forest Service tells Pronews 7 the fire is near the Caprock Canyons. 3,600 acres has burned.

Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion but officials say they are now fine.

Seven fire departments in addition to the Forest Service and Texas Department of Transportation are working to extinguish the blaze. That includes four tanker aircrafts and three bull dozers.

Four homes have been saved but wind and rough terrain are making it difficult to contain the fire.

Good news in Hall County

The fire that burned about 1,000 acres is now fully contained. Four homes were saved in the fire that burned about 25 miles northwest of Childress.
