Troopers will be out in full force this Labor Day weekend looking for drunk drivers.
Texas Department of Public Safety says all available Highway Patrol troopers will be out on the road from Friday to Monday night. It's all part of the 'Drink. Drive. Go to Jail.' campaign that focuses DWI patrols in high-risk locations. Thanks to a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation, this program is funded.
"If you are driving and found to be impaired, you will be arrested," said Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven C. McCraw in a release.
According to Texas DPS, 718 people were arrested in Texas during the Labor Day holdai in 2010. During that time, more than 12,000 speeding citations were also issued.
