Have you ever woken up to find odd messages on your cell phone that you don't remember sending? You may suffer from sleep texting.
It's a growing phenomenon in today's fast paced, technology infused society... Sending text messages in your sleep.
Experts report that people are so attached to their cell phones, that they are actually sleep texting. It's along the same lines as sleep walking or sleep eating, and sleep specialists have determined that is becoming more and more common.
In fact, there's a Facebook fan page devoted to the topic.
So is it a real issue?
Dr. Adam Fisch, a sleep specialist at St. Vincent Hospital, said people can perform complex activities in their sleep. "It doesn't take a lot of motor skill or brain function to do certain things . You can literally do them in your sleep," said Fisch.
Scientists and sleep professionals are not really sure if people are technically asleep when they send the messages, or awake for such a short time that they don't have time to form a memory of the event.
