Take a look back at the photos of this tragic day 10 years ago.
Where were you?
Anita - I got married the day after... I felt guilty the entire time.. It just kept running through my mind, "why, and how can I be celebrating the beginning of my life when so many others are suffering because someone they love, had their life end." a very bittersweet day. :/
Connie - It was a weird day. Felt like a dream or a daze(cuz who could be that evil). I was a maid at the time and most of the ppl I cleaned for was home that day cuz pantex was closed. Very very sad day. Still, 10 years later I get a little nervous when planes fly to low.
Anissa - My husband woke me up to see the second plane hit the 2nd tower. I just couldn't beleive it. We went sure what ours lives were going to be like from that day on. My daughter is 10 now. She ask questions about 9/11 all the time. We also have been watching on the National Geographic channel. To help her understand it more. It's a really big deal to her.
Tara - I just walked into my high school freshman English class and saw the 2nd plane hit, my heart dropped. Then I remembered my dad was flying that day to oregon, thank god he was okay, he had to rent a car to drive home.
Carol - Had just sat down to have my second cup of coffee before work, just in time to watch in HORROR the second plane hit the tower...when I got to work we were working on a huge order of Pantex shirts (embroidery)...I was so afraid they would try to hit Pantex next. I was a nervous wreck, BUT we got that order done! :)
Krista - Was a senior in high school with a baby at home and husband at work. I was pretty calm about the whole thing but mesmerized. Sad to say, don't think it "changed" me that much. I am however talking to my kids about this. My oldest is 10 now, he was just 2 months old when it happened so he doesn't know much but his class talks about it alot.
Jean - I was watching the TV in our breakroom at work as they were reporting about the 1st plane then all of a sudden the 2nd plane came into to picture and hit, I was absolutely horrified and could not believe what was happening...how it has changed my life..... My son was deployed to Iraq in April 2001 and volunteered to go back in Sept 2004.....he lost his life Nov 8, 2011 by an IED. If the 9/11 attack had not taken place maybe we would not have lost so many service members and continue to do so.....my son was a very proud Marine and loved this country!!! The flags fly in front of my house with pride and honor as it should for every American. My heart goes out to all the families of the 9/11 victims and all the families of every fallen soldier and all that are still deployed. Stay safe and god bless. Not a day goes by that I take our freedom for granted.
Melanie - I just got home from taking my daughter to school who was 6yrs old and my son was 2 at the time. The tv was on and heard Good morning America people talking when I looked I seen one tower on fire not knowing what happened. Next thing I knew the second plane hit. I called my mom screaming to turn her tv on. I was in shock and wanted to go get my daughter from school
Juana - I was in middle school math class when the teacher turned on the tv and we saw the second plane
hit and his girl friend ran into the class room crying her family worked in the twin towers.
Audrey - I was with my 7th grade students trying to stay calm and keep them calm. It was a scary day.
Alyce - I was working at Texas Tech. One of my co-workers ran into the office and said, "A plane just hit the world trade center!" We got up from our desks and turned on the little tv. My first thought was, "Huh, and there's not a cloud in the sky...". Then the second plane hit and terror ran through my entire body and I think we all stood in shock for a few moments, absolutely silent. I remember being horrified as I came to the realization that we were under attack. My thoughts quickly turned to my 3 year old daughter who was in daycare. I couldn't get to her fast enough! I just needed her and my husband who was on the road that day, close to me. My next thoughts turned to my brother who is in the Navy and was stationed in Pearl Harbor at the time. I called my sister-in-law (It was about 5am their time and she had no idea) and started screaming that we were under attack and if she knew where my brother was? All ships were immediately deployed to secure the borders. I finally got an email from my brother about 2 weeks later and that he was ok.
