AMARILLO, TEXAS -- As you get older, celebrating your birthday might not always be so fun. But this week, the Chase Tower is happy to announce that it's celebrating it's 40th birthday!
Amarillo's tallest tower is recognizing it's 40 years of existence all week and will have new and special events each day to help celebrate. Monday, Xcel Energy hosted a hamburger cookout and inside the tower, volunteers strutted their stuff in the Chase Tower's 1970's Fashion Show. All the events throughout the week aim to take the tower back to the time when it was built.
"This building was opening in 1971 and so everything about this week we're trying to go back and remember how things were in the 70's. It's just a time to remember", said Chase Tower Building Manager, Joe Bob McCartt
All the money raised from the cookout and fashion show Monday will be donated to the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon.
