AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Sticky notes, printers, paper and binders -- Office Max's "A Day Made Better" package had it all.
Today, a local teacher was given one.
Fifth grade math teacher Keith Creager received the surprise Tuesday morning during an assembly at Carver Elementary Academy. Every year, Office Max chooses a school, which then chooses a teacher, to receive this school supplies package as a way to help teachers fill their classrooms without emptying their pockets.
"Teachers are a little different band of folks. They spend thousands of dollars of their own money out of their own pocket to buy supplies and things that they need. They go above and beyond to help our kids and this is one way, one day a year, that we can give back", said local Office Max Store Manager, Travis Babb.
Inside that surprise were about $1100 worth of supplies.
Through the Office Max "A Day Made Better" program, the company has helped fund more than 5,500 teachers and their classrooms in the past five years with more than $5.5 million worth of school supplies.
