AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An early morning fire one day in October of 2007 burned ADVO Companies to the ground, but Thursday, they get a brand new start.
They'll have a ribbon cutting, to celebrate their re-opening and their 20th anniversary.
"The first thing that happened when we burned, I was thinking, oh my gosh, what're going to do monday morning. We've got 80 some odd individuals that are expecting to come to work and about 75 employees, and where are we going to go?" Said Carla Hughes, ADVO Companies President.
They had nowhere to go, and besides that, ADVO clients has trouble getting to their nurses.
"If you need a nurse or if you need to talk to carla you could just walk down the hall and she's right there, before we couldn't do that because someone would have to take us to the office," said five year ADVO Client, Patti Ballew.
Now, four years later, their new building stands tall and the staff couldn't be any happier.
"Today, is probably one of the most amazing blessings that anybody could have ever had. We have the most amazing facility ever, everything we could have ever hoped for to have we have here."
In adverse situations most people give up, but not Carla and not ADVO.
"When the fire happened we had a picture of the fire and the blaze and water from the hose and there was a rainbow and that became our motto, that it was our promise from God that everything was going to be fine."
During the ribbon cutting, ADVO will be celebrating its 20th year of providing a number of services to people with special needs.
The ribbon cutting is Thursday at 1:30p.m.
The new location is at 5241 S. Washington, and if you want a tour, an open house will go on till 4p.m.
