AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A staff member from Congressman Mac Thornberry's office made a trip to Amarillo Thursday to talk with the Senior Community Service Employment Program.

Today, the SCSEP, some of their employees and Representative Thornberry's staff member gathered at the Downtown Women's Center main thrift store to express concerns about how federal funding cuts are affecting their program. The SCSEP is the largest federally funded program that seeks to help older adults find employment and job training.

"We serve a community which is senior citizens 55 and older who face job discrimination every day of their life. Nobody else is serving these people like we do", said SCSEP Program Director, Jim Hagemeier.

In 2010, more than 125,000 SCSEP participants were employed in various programs across the country.
