AMARILLO, TEXAS -- After a tragic accident on the football field, one Vega High School student, Luis Morales, remains unable to walk -- paralyzed from the waist down.

After suffering serious spinal injuries and being flown to Amarillo for surgery, he still needs further treatment which has put a huge financial burden on his family. The Khiva Shriners of Amarillo were determined to get him that treatment...free of charge.

They arranged for Morales to be flown, this morning, from TacAir in Amarillo to a hospital in Sacramento.

"There's nothing better than helping a child when a child needs help. It makes everyone feel wonderful", said Potentate of the Khiva Temple, Glenn Pate. "It's what we do it for, this is why we have our fundraisers and work hard is to help these children when they need it."

A fund has been set up at Vega Bank to help the Morales family with medical expenses.
