AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Demonstrations took place all over the country Saturday by groups furthering the protests of Occupy Wall Street.
One such group is Occupy Amarillo. Its members share the anger of corporate influence in politics.
"There are 24 million people in the country who want a full-time work, but cannot get it," Occupy Amarillo Member Crystal Zimmerman said. "They are willing to do the work, but can't because there is no opportunity for them here."
The government came under question by many after it bailed out companies both in the United States and overseas.
"The US government also bailed out several corporations that aren't even American corporations," Zimmerman said. "You've got the Bank of Bavaria. You've got Toyota, Mitsubishi. Why is that money being sent elsewhere? Why isn't it staying here to benefit people in America?"
The Wall Street protests have now gone global, with demonstrators denouncing politicians, businessmen and bankers. Violence broke out in Rome Saturday as protestors torched cars and smashed bank windows.
Here in Amarillo, Occupy protestors marched from Ellwood Park to the Chase Tower. Around 60 or more people came out in support.
