OCHILTREE COUNTY, TEXAS -- A Fritch woman was killed Sunday evening in a head-on collision on State Highway 15.

Texas Department of Public Safety said a 2001 Ford pickup, driven by Filiberto Altamirano, 43, of Perryton, was traveling eastbound just after 8:00 Sunday evening. A 2000 Lincoln Continental, driven by Dawn Marie Weber, 37, of Fritch was traveling westbound closing with Altamirano's vehicle.

DPS said as the vehicle approached, Altamirano's vehicle crossed into the westbound lane. Weber attempted to avoid the collision and went into the eastbound lane.

Altamirano then attempted to correct his vehicle and went back into the eastbound lane, DPS said. That's when the two vehicles collided.

Weber was taken to the Hansford County Hospital where she died. She was wearing her seat belt.

Altamirano was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in serious condition.
