Potter County Commissioner Manny Perez has passed away, according to fellow commissioner Joe Kirkwood.

He passed away around 3:19 Tuesday afternoon. He was previously in a coma and in hospice after he reportedly suffered complications post-surgery.

"He will be greatly missed," Kirkwood told Pronews 7.

It is believed that Perez was the longest serving commissioner in County history, Kirkwood added.

He served about 25 years and was beloved by the community. He was 71 years old.

Potter County Attorney Scott Brumley said Judge Arthur Ware will now appoint someone to serve the rest of the commissioner's term in office.
