If you watch the popular show "Glee," then you know how popular high school choirs have become.
In today's economy, school budgets can become stretched, often cutting funds to programs like choir.
At Guymon High School, the students have a solution. Together, they have entered the national "Glee Give a Note" competion.
The competition will give away $1 million to schools across the country. Schools entered the contest by submitting a video depicting why they needed additional funds.
The video with Guymon students showed them jokingly practicing in a restroom and wearing costumes made from trashbags.
Winning schools can win up to $50,000! Students at Guymon High School say that money could go a long way.
"We could really use that money," said one of the students. "We would use it for things like technology and extra space."
Students came up with the idea with the help of Choir Director Mrs. Becky Jett and Accompanist Jaysen McClenagan. The Guymon Choir program features the Take Note Show Choir, an all-girl show choir and a general choir. The choirs have previously performed exceptionally at state and regional competitions.
