AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon, it's about helping others.
But on Saturday, volunteers from the Pantex Metal Trade Council switched those roles around.
"We're down here installing energy efficient ballasts, lights, motion sensors," said B&W Pantex Maintenance Manager, Bob Asbury. "We anticipate that it should save the United Way about $600 a year in electric bills."
Donating time and money by installing some 56 new lights inside the United Way's offices is a first for Pantex but they're certainly not new to helping the organization.
"B&W and the MTC are responsible for, just the Pantex side, about 10 percent of the entire United Way Campaign every year so it's a big initiative," said Asbury. "It's a huge responsibility for the employees at Pantex, they've done it in the past and I'm sure they'll do it again this year."
All that money saved through bills will go right back to those who really need it.
"We do have some expenses," said United Way Loan Executive Chairman, Dean Morrison. "So the more we can save on one side, the more that will end up going to the folks that really need it in our community."
"Anything we can do to help or allow the United Way to put more funds back into the community is a positive thing", said Pantex Metal Trades Council Vice President, Isaac DeLosSantos.

"It's kind of the gift that keeps on giving", added DeLosSantos.

"It's been a blessing for us," said Morrison. "It's going to be great."
