AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The YMCA gave a very large and very deserving "thank you" to the community Tuesday.
It was their 73rd Annual Heroes Luncheon. The "Y" had lunch with many of their donors, businesses, individuals and volunteers to say thanks for all of their help during 2011. During the past year, the YMCA raised more than $45,000 allowing them to serve more than 24,000 people in the Amarillo and Canyon area.
"We want to thank everybody for what they do throughout the year," said YMCA Board Member Teresa Soria. "This past year especially. We've been able to serve so many people in the community this year and it's because of our heroes which is our volunteers and our donors that help support the Y. Without them we couldn't do what we do.">
Because of the help from those in the community, the "Y" is still able to serve active older adults, teens and even offer childcare.
