Borger man killed in wreck caused by horse

53-year-old Gentry Trahern of Borger was traveling northbound on Highway 136 one mile south of Stinnett when a horse started to cross the highway, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. It was just after 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to DPS, Trahern hit the horse which caused him to slide into another vehicle, a Toyota pickup, traveling the opposite way.

Trahern was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is pending, officials said. He was wearing his seat belt.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated and released at Golden Plains Hospital in Borger.
