The Heart Hospital of Northwest Texas has received full accreditation with PCI from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
The three-year process required the hospital to meet eight key elements, implement the process and provide data to the society. Once the data was given, a two-day survey was conducted at the hospital in which the hospital employees and tactics were observed to ensure they matched up with the data provided.
All went smoothly, and the celebration of the accreditation was held Monday afternoon.
Hospital staff say not only the hospital will benefit, but the patients, as well.
"It benefits the hospital because it helps improve our mortality rates, it helps us improve our core measures and it helps us be able to provide that better care to our patients," Heart Hospital Division Director Leanna Tijernia said. "Again, being the only dedicated heart hospital in the region, we want to be able to give superior care to our cardiac patients, and so that that's what this helps us do."
