CARSON COUNTY, TEXAS -- A Groom woman was killed Monday afternoon after weather conditions caused a wreck, DPS said.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety, Denai R. Vaughn, 37, of Groom, was driving a 2007 Toyota 4runner east on I-40 just inside the Carson County line. It was just before 5:30 p.m. Monday. That's when police say she lost control of the vehicle due to weather conditions.

The vehicle crossed into westbound traffic and was then struck by a 2004 Saturn Vue on the driver's side.

Vaughn was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing her seat belt, DPS said.

The driver and one passenger of the Saturn Vue were transported to Northwest Texas Hospital where they were treated and released. One of the passengers was listed in stable condition with back and hand fractures. All were wearing a seat belt, DPS said.
