AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo's Annette Carlisle, long known as a major supporter of education, has announced her candidacy to become a member of theTexas State Board of Education.
Current District 15 member Bob Craig of Lubbock has announced he will not seek another another term. District 15 covers 77 counties including the entire Panhandle.
Carlisle, a board member with the Amarillo Independent School District, says this seems like a natural progression.
"Its a natural progression. It where my passions lie...it's about our kids, our community and our economy. It's about the future of Texas. so I think I have the experience and knowledge and the passion to get in there and do a great job for the people of District 15" said Carlisle.
No one else has announced any intention to run in this race. The Republican primary is March 6.
