AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The winter months getting close and it's getting cold outside, which means it's time for the heater drive and it will run through the winter.
The drive benefits those experiencing homelessness or are at risk of experiencing the cold over the winter.
According to, 2-1-1 Texas Director Melanie Smoot, they have a great need right now because of the potential for an extremely cold winter.
"We've actually had quite a few people sign up for the heater drive already and we've not been able to fulfil the need as we would've liked to due to the number of requests and the lack of donations received thus far."
Smoot says the resource center provides several services and the heaters are one of their largest requests every year and they are just trying to make sure our communities needs are met.
