GROOM, TEXAS -- Officials in Carson County are investigating the death of a man who they say was shot several times at a gas station Monday afternoon.

Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry told Pronews 7 a car from Missouri was carrying a 65-year-old William Thompson Nardin and his wife. The couple ended up in Groom at the Allsup's convenience store in the fuel isle after a minor wreck on I-40 in Wheeler County.

Sheriff Terry then said 81-year-old William Franklin who was driving a pickup became mad at Norton and shot him several times with a small caliber rifle.

Nardin was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. His wife reportedly sustained no physical injuries.

As for Franklin, he was arrested and transported to the Carson County Jail.
