AMARILLO, TEXAS -- We haven't even worked our way through the Thanksgiving holiday yet and folks are already getting excited about Christmas time. That's probably because one of the biggest national holiday shopping days is only a few days away.

Plenty of stores in Westgate Mall will be opening at midnight for Black Friday sales. Even a few of the mall's department stores like JC Penney and Sears plan on opening at 4 a.m. If you feel like tearing down the aisles of Target, Kohl's and Best Buy in the middle of the night on Black Friday -- go ahead! Those stores are opening at midnight, too.

But, some stores are going to extremes this year. Walmart plans to open at ten o'clock Thanksgiving night with electronic specials beginning at midnight. ToysRUs, refusing to be topped, is opening it's doors at nine Thursday night.

"I don't like the idea of them being open on Thanksgiving. That's kind of family time and if I'm headed out directly after Thanksgiving dinner to line up outside of a store that kind of breaks into the whole point of Thanksgiving," said one Amarillo local, Amanda Fike. "There's some good deals but there's nothing that's on my list so I'm not going to go fight the crowds and get run over."

Another Amarillo resident, Kyle Deaver, says he's working on Black Friday but even if he wasn't, he wouldn't head out shopping until at least ten o'clock Friday morning.

"Everybody is trying to out do anybody so the earlier one store opens up, another stop wants to compete with it and soon," Deaver said, "if it doesn't calm down it's going to be all day Thanksgiving and no room for any family time or anything like that."
