Amarillo men detained in meth conspiracy

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Three Amarillo men are being detained after police arrested them for running a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy, U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña said.

Adrian Garcia Baeza, 32, Jose Luis Pando, 34, and Manuel Garza, aka "Valentine" or "Valle," 29, were taken into custody Tuesday. The men are being detained pending a detention hearing. That hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Each are charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. According to a news release, the investigation included several undercover purchases of large quantities of meth using large sums of cash.

Two search warrants were issued in addition to the arrests Monday. Approximately $150,000 in U.S. currency was seized.

If these men are found guilty, the penalty is ten years to life in prison with a fine of up to $10 million.

This investigation is being led by the FBI and DEA with assistance from the Amarillo Police Department.
