DALHART, TEXAS -- Texas Rangers have started an investigation into a Dalhart police officer who is suspected of taking more than $500 from the Dallam-Hartley Counties Crime Stoppers fund.
According to the Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers confirmed Tuesday that they intend to seek an indictment against Javier Gonzales, Jr.
Dalhart Chief of Police Gary Sinclair said Gonzales resigned from the department on Dec. 1.
Texas Rangers will now present its case for Theft by a Public Servant (over $500) to the 69th District Attorney's Office. The charge is a state jail felony.
