For years, TV viewers have had to put up with commericals being noticeably louder than the programs they're interrupting, but that's about to change...even though it may take a while before you notice it.
The Federal Communications Commission passed regulations requiring broadcasters and cable and satellite TV systems to maintain constant volume levels. those regulations mean that the commericals must "have the same average volume as the programs they accompany,
The order, goes into effect in one year.
All broadcasters are going to have to measure the loudness of the spots and adjust the commericals accordingly. However, it's going to be up to each individual station to do so.
