AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The holiday season is here and with it, an increased need for blood. That's why the Coffee Memorial Blood Center is hosting a blood drive Tuesday.
To help get everyone in the holiday spirit, those who donated between the hours of four and seven Tuesday afternoon had the chance to get up to ten christmas presents wrapped for free! The need for blood always goes up during the holidays and with the severe weather that's sweeping the Panhandle, that need is even greater. That's why the blood center is asking everyone, especially locals, to come in and donate.
"Not only do we have the holiday period, we have increased travel and potential for accidents and blood usage but then we're closed Sunday and Monday for Christmas for when you add all that up it can be a potentially dangerous situation," said Coffee Memorial Blood Center Director of Marketing, Suzanne Talley.
In order to avoid experiencing a critical need, the blood center is urging donors with O positive and O negative blood types to come in and donate before the holidays.
