AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Heritage Room was packed Thursday evening at the Amarillo Civic Center for the annual Hispanic Chamber of Commerce banquet.
Executive Director Dora Chavarria says 2011 was a good year to celebrate.
She says a record attendance of more than 4,000 people attended its Cinco de Mayo celebration, and two thousand twelve should be good with the start of a new Hispanic ambassador program at Test Texas A & M.
"The reason we wanted to do that partnership is because we want the students that are graduating to get accustomed to doing community service, community work because we all know that it is within the community that not only do you get better jobs but you can also improve your performance at the job you're going to get when you graduate college."
Honored tonight were a number of people and businesses for the work with the chamber.
