AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 years in federal prison for a charge of child pornography.

Todd Wayne Ellis, 44, received 120 months in federal prison. He pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of child pornography in Oct. 2011, U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña said.

A special agent with the FBI, according to documents filed in this case, worked undercover in May 2011 and identified a computer using a peer-to-peer program to share child pornography. 32 files with many named that indicated child pornography were uncovered from a shared folder from Ellis. A total of 21 of those files were determined to be child porn, authorities said.

Ellis admitted to FBI agents during a search warrant at his Amarillo home in Sept.2011 that he used peer-to-peer sites, court document revealed. He also admitted that he made available to others images of child porn that involved minors ranging from toddlers to older children, officials said.

In addition to the prison sentence, Ellis was also sentenced to a lifetime of supervised release. He has been in custody since Sept. 2011.
